Actress Naomi Grossman & Oregon Pinot Noir
Wines of the Night
2012 A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir ($19)
A fruity but attractively complex and softly spicy nose mixes both red and dark currant aromas with briar and earth hints. There is a sleek and restrained mouth feel to the equally fruity middle weight flavors that that offer reasonably good length though not the depth suggested by the nose. This is attractive in its fashion and could be enjoyed now.
2012 Chehalem Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Three Vineyard ($27)
A vinous Pinot Noir, this is quiet and mildly tense, its scents of dried cherries carried on a sleek texture. It needs some cellar time and then something delicate to match, like arctic char.
2012 Sineann Yamhill-Carlton Yates Conwill Vineyard Pinot Noir ($34)
This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Oregon is Excellent! It opens with a pleasant strawberry bouquet with a hint of raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and super smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild cedar infused gentle strawberry with notes of red plum. I also detected hints of white pepper as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and gentle acidity fade away nicely. I would pair this terrific elegant Pinot Noir with a filet mignon.
2012 Evening Land Eola-Amity Hills Seven Springs La Source ($80)
Seductive, silky and supple, this red layers its gorgeous currant, plum, blueberry and spice flavors on a lithe frame, coming together harmoniously on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2022.
