Wines of the Night
2013 Hartford Court Russian River Valley Pinot Noir ($29)
Aromas of blackberries, blueberry, and nutmeg are followed by flavors of Bing cherries, wild raspberries, dark plum and allspice. The dense entry is followed by a sweet and juicy mouth feel, supported by acidity, silky tannins and a subtle earthy finish.
2013 Lynmar Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir ($40)
The 2013 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir presents a dark garnet color in the glass. Heady aromas of dark cherries, red apple skin, and baking spices highlight the aromatics. The supple mid-palate is accentuated with crushed strawberries, sarsaparilla, black tea and cloves. Firm tannins round the deft finish of pink peppercorns, molasses, plum, and cherry cola. This wine will drink optimally from release until 2019 and will cellar until 2023.
2013 Paul Hobbs Russian River Valley Pinot Noir ($55)
The 2013 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is deep, fleshy and exotic, with lovely floral and savory notes that temper some of the typical Russian River exuberance. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, mint, violets and a hint of game hit the bright, energetic finish. This is a gorgeous appellation level wine.
2011 Kosta Browne Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir ($78)
Juicy pomegranate, black cherry and lingonberry soften an herbaceous nose with touches of sandalwood. Ripe layers of red cherry and raspberry, with notes of sassafras on the mid-palate. Graceful texture with a bright acidity and bursting with rich concentrated flavor. Berries and cream evoke a velvety finish.
