Warwick Three Cape Ladies Cape Blend Western Cape 2012 ($25)
The Three Cape Ladies is a blend of classic French varieties it consists of 40% Pinotage, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon & 30% Syrah.Delicious ripe berry & plum aromas with hints of pencil shavings. Surprisingly smooth tannins for such a full bodied wine. Maturation: 18 months in 225l French oak barrels - 15% new. Aging Potential: 8 to 10 years.
Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir Hemel-en-Aarde Valley 2015 ($45)
Translucent hue that looks glaringly like a Burgundian Pinot. Light and fresh with gripping acidity and a long, long finish. More terroir than fruit but still detect red cherries, cinnamon, and cloves. I can see what the other reviews say about this being a new world wine in an old world style. My only complaint is I think it is far too young. Will save the other bottles for at least a couple years to let everything settle down a bit. Will be interesting to see how it evolves.
Sadie Family Treinspoor (Tinta Barocca) Swartland 2015 ($50)
The 2015 Old Vine Series Treinspoor has a lucid ruby color. Darker in color than other OVS labels, it has a captivating bouquet with raspberry, cranberry leaf, tobacco and damp wet clayey aromas. The palate has firm. The acidity is beautifully judged with killer salinity and minerality on the finish that both linger in the mouth. This is an outstanding South African wine.
