Full with density and bursting with flavor. Dark fruit, cherry, blackberry. Brimming with cedar, pipe tobacco and earth. Pairs well with Roasted Pork and Grilled Steaks.

2013 Swanson Vineyards Oakville Merlot ($25)
Aromatically complex, this vintage brings forth crushed red fruits, rip plums, blackberries and a touch of cigar box. On the palate, the characteristically smooth tannins blend with flavors such as plum, cassis, vanilla followed up by a cocoa dust finish. Initially approachable, this wine carries power on the finish with a 10-15 second palate longevity. This wine cries out for Moroccan lamb tagine or a simple heritage pork chop with gravy and mashed potatoes. Cellar through 2025.

2013 Keenan Spring Mountain District "Mailbox Vineyard" Merlot ($65)
Smooth and accented by dried herb, this wine is tart in currant and lush in chocolate, offering a wide spectrum of aroma and flavor. Medium bodied, it picks up power and concentration on the finish, allowing for a ripeness to strike last.
