2012 Hobo Wine Co. Grenache ($25)

Brilliant ruby. Intense, mineral- and spice-accented red fruit aromas are given depth and power by a note of licorice. Taut, linear and spicy on the palate, offering bitter cherry and rhubarb flavors and a spine of tangy acidity.

2013 Porter & Plot Grenache ($23)

With notes of fresh cherry, olive tapenade and soy sauce, this 2013 Grenache delivers generous acidity. By focusing on small-lot wines Porter and Plot showcases the unique, nuanced individuality of California’s most exceptional appellations and vineyards. Made using whole-cluster fermentation and native yeasts, this 2013 Grenache displays notes of fresh cherry, olive tapenade and soy sauce with excellent mineral tones, soft tannins and generous acidity. After initial aging in concrete tanks the wine was racked into neutral 500 litre barrels where it aged for sixteen months. Pair it with meats like pork and beef.

2013 Denner Grenache ($70)

Powerful, deeply pitched red fruit aromas are complicated by fresh rose and incense. Silky, palate-coating raspberry and cherry compote flavors open up slowly with aeration while retaining very good focus. Gentle tannins.
