Wines of the Night
2013 Bogle Zinfandel, California ($10)
While Zinfandel and the word "sophisticated" aren't often found in the same sentence, this vintage from Bogle winemakers takes delicious fruit and creates a wine lively with red cranberries and pink peppercorns. Hints of a hillside briar patch in summer waft through the wine as well, while spicy clove heightens at the finish from the oak aging. Rustic and refined at all once, this Zinfandel is sure to please. This is a versatile wine to pair with everything from rich and unique dishes, to your favorite barbecue or weeknight take out.
2014 Hartford Old Vine Zinfandel, Russian River Valley ($30)
The 2014 Zinfandel (Russian River Valley) is dark, juicy and flavorful, with plenty of acid kick to prop up the flavors, dark cherry, blackberry, spice and violets are pushed forward. Drink this delicious Zinfandel over the next few years.
2014 Brown Estate Zinfandel, Napa Valley ($45)
Stunning gemstone magenta core and ruby rim. True on the nose to our hallmark Brown Estate bouquet of rose petals, lily of the valley, hibiscus flowers, Asian apple, and effervescent citrus followed by dried apricot and peach. Medium body with silky mouthfeel, the palate at first delivers a burst of ripe red fruits, heavy cream, and loads of cascading exotic spice, finishing with a surprise of subtle crushed black pepper. Seamlessly integrated, elegant, and engaging. Drink now through 2022 to experience ripe fresh fruit, thereafter for a less fruity, earthier experience.
