2017 Rieussec Sauternes ($35)
Intense and richly sweet, this wine is also balanced, with both botrytis and baked-apple acidity coming through. This essential dryness gives the wine a dense core and aging potential. A high proportion of Sémillon adds its weight at the end. Drink from 2020.
2011 Suduiraut Sauternes ($35)
A big, broad, powerful style, with piecrust, roasted almond and hazelnut cream notes framing the core of apricot, creamed peach and dried mango. Picks up extra fig and pear details through the toasty finish.
2007 Suduirat Sauternes ($70)
Pale lemon in color, the 2016 Suduiraut rocks up out of the glass with notes of honey-drizzled peaches, lime cordial and orange oil plus wafts of lanolin, pie crust and crushed rocks. The palate packs a wallop with intense flavor layers and a gorgeous texture, finishing with fantastic freshness.
